If your description is not listed at signup, this article explains the best option to choose instead.
Use Add your own when the suggestions do not describe you accurately. Enter a short, truthful description and answer the individual/organisation question when shown.
If your description is not listed
- The custom field appears for an unmatched description or the supported other-description path. It is separate from leaving the search field unselected.
- For an earning description, the form may require Individual or Organisation / place / community so it can use the appropriate existing workflow.
- The current custom-description field accepts up to 70 characters. Keep it descriptive rather than using a long sales pitch.
- Do not claim to be ZOMZEY staff, Official, Verified, Support or Admin. Selecting a regulated or high-trust title is not platform verification.
- A custom description is not automatically added as a new canonical category. It does not create Agency permissions, additional identities or a separate profile engine.
Writing a good custom description
Keep it to a few plain words that say what you are: “Ceramics studio”, “Walking tour guide”, “Parent and toddler group”. The field accepts up to 70 characters, and shorter is better because the text appears as your public label and on Discover cards where long phrases are cut off. Leave out slogans, prices, links, hashtags and claims about reach; those belong in your profile bio and validated audience fields.
Individual or organisation
When the form asks whether you are an individual or an organisation, place or community, answer for the account you are creating rather than for the people behind it. A sole trader is an individual; a shop, a club, a library or a festival is an organisation, place or community. The answer decides which existing workflow the account uses, so it cannot be guessed from the description alone.
What a custom description cannot do
It is a label, not a status. It does not make the account verified, does not grant Agency permissions, does not open a second profile and must not use reserved words such as Official, Verified, Support, Admin or ZOMZEY staff. If the description you need is common, ask Fluent Support to consider adding it to the catalogue so it can be searched by everyone.
Common questions when your description is not listed
My description is not listed. Will a custom one still be found in Discover?
Yes. A custom description is shown on your profile and on Discover cards, and members can search for the words in it. Standard catalogue labels are filtered more often, so if a close standard match exists it is usually better to choose that and keep the specific wording for your bio.
How long can a custom description be if mine is not listed?
Up to 70 characters, and shorter is better because long phrases are cut off on cards. A few plain words that say what you are, such as Ceramics studio or Walking tour guide, work best. Leave out slogans, prices, links, hashtags and audience claims.
Can I ask for my description to be added to the catalogue?
Yes. If your description is not listed but is common in your field, tell Fluent Support and it can be considered for the shared catalogue so that everyone can search for it. Until then your custom text does the job.
If my description is not listed, should I pick the nearest standard one instead?
Pick the nearest standard description when it would be an honest match, because Pioneers filter Discover by those labels and you will be found more often. When no standard label is honest, the description is not listed for a reason and Add your own is the right route; a truthful custom description is better than a close-sounding label that misleads the people approaching you.
